Reiki Energy Healing
Balancing mind and Body
What is Reiki
Reiki is a holistic form of alternative healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It involves the transfer of life energy from the practitioner to the client through gentle touch or by placing hands just above the body, creating a nurturing environment. The term "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning universal, and "Ki," which signifies life energy. Practitioners firmly believe that this vital energy can help restore balance and promote healing across physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
During a typical Reiki session, individuals often experience a profound sense of deep relaxation, which can significantly alleviate stress and anxiety. Many people seek out Reiki for a variety of reasons, including pain relief, emotional support during difficult times, and opportunities for personal growth. The treatment itself is non-invasive and can be seamlessly integrated with other forms of therapy, making it a valuable complementary approach to overall wellness and self-discovery.

Breif Trauma Processing or Single Event Traumas:
These sessions will use a combination of reiki healing and bilateral stimulation, in the form of music, to identify emotions and the areas of the body where the emotions have been stored. The client focuses on any thoughts or feelings arising and how these change during the session. Depending on the severeity of the trauma and where the client is in terms of processing relief can be expereinced after 1 session but can take several sessions in combination with counseling for more extensive concerns.
Although the process can be intense most people report feeling relaxed and grounded at the end of the session. If you have a diagnosis of PTSD or experience disassociation please speak with your provider to coordinate care prior to setting up session.
Frequently asked questions
-
Reiki sessions are typically 55 minutes long. The beginning of the session practitioner will ask about any concerns you have and if there are any specific things you would like to work on during the session. The last 5 minutes will be dedicated to debriefing the session and providing recommendations or insights.
-
The day of the session limit your caffeine intake, if possible, and ensure you are drinking plenty of water. It can also be beneficial to limit fried or processed foods but this is not a must.
If there are specific goals in mind spend a few minutes reflecting on this or writing it down so you can talk about it at the beginning of the session.
Wear comfortable clothes and socks if you are typically cold as you will remove your shoes during the session.
The most important thing is to come with an open mind.
-
It is very important to drink water and stay hydrated after a session. Reiki helps move energy through your body and can help to remove toxins so being hydrated will help to flush these from your system.
It is recommended to eat healthy foods the day after a session but of course this is completely up to you.
Some people also find it helpful to journal or spend some quiet time reflecting and integrating the information obtained during the session.
If you do an trauma processing session you may also experience vivid dreams, this is completely normal as your brain will continue to process information for many hours after the session.
